At Upbeat GNV, our mission is to address the mental health challenges faced by musicians around the state of Florida by offering a range of services and support. Here's how we strive to make a difference:
We work to educate musicians on the impact the music industry can have on their mental health. You may be here because you saw our booth at a show. This is just one of the ways we work face-to-face with our community, helping musicians recognize risk factors in the music industry that degrade their mental health, while working to provide real practical strategies and support programs for coping and thriving during the ups-and-downs of the creative industries.
We work to fight personal and economic barriers to getting help. Too often, musicians may forego therapy because cost is a problem. You may have heard someone say they don’t want to be perceived as weak or struggling. You may have heard someone say they’re uncomfortable talking to a stranger. You may have even heard an artist say they won’t seek help because they feel their mental state fuels their art. We actively promote the idea that it is okay for musicians and industry workers to seek help and work within our community to find avenues to affordable therapy.
We work for a more connected Gainesville music scene. Building healthier relationships and decreasing competitive thinking within our music community is a priority for us. We work to foster a supportive and inclusive environment, promoting a sense of community and collaboration among musicians, which can significantly contribute to their overall well-being.
By focusing on these areas, we aim to make a positive and lasting impact on the well-being of our scene.
If you’d like to donate or join us, we’d love to have you in the mix.
